Welcome to the next review of The Waffle Cafe Podcast. Just to put it out there, there currently is no waffle cafe but doesn't mean there will never be one! Might start a crowdfund if people have the urge for a waffle. You never know, you might get lucky and meet the brains and the brawn behind the pod, you can decide who's who! Onto this week's review...

Good Vibes of the Week

It was bit of a slow week for good news but we both did our best to start the pod on a good vibe. Dave talked about young entrepreneur and environmentalist Amy Bray who founded the charity Another Way with the sole purpose of cutting out plastic in our food purchasing. Customers are encouraged to bring their own tubs and containers to weigh their food. Simple and should be enforced in a lot more places. I shared the courageous story of Rugby League legend Rob Burrow who has been unfortunately living with Motor Neurone Disease. He has a marathon next year in Leeds named after him and we posed the question to Dave will he be running... I still have no answer!

Gripe of the Week

Here we go again! I carried on my moan on from last week by moving onto to the amount of USB connection types we all now have to contend with. I have a basket full of leads and it takes a good while to find the right one I need for the tech I need to charge! Surely there should be a universal one to make life a little easier?!

Dave has obviously been feeling it at work because he has gripes with people who follow an email up with a phone call literally minutes after sending it. He's right though, unless you're being hacked by Anonymous, be patient and your query will be answered and dealt with in due course.

Tuneage of the Week

Dave went single again (no, I mean, he's married, he's gone for another single release!). From grime to chilled Brit hip=hop, Dave recommended AJ Tracey's 'Dinner Guest' with a great sampling track! I went a bit rocky/borderline screamo with Linkin Park's debut album Hybrid Theory. I used to love a bit of nu-metal and these guys were the pioneer of that genre! The legendary track of 'Crawling' would be our stand out choice from the album.

Footage of the Week

New film from moi this week comes from Captain Kirk himself. No, it's not Star Trek but a CIA spy thriller starring Chris Pine and Thandiwe Newton called All The Old Knives now available on Amazon Prime. This film has gone under the radar a little and is a shame because it's a decent thriller with a double twist at the end. Dave wants us all to visit Slough (most people would recommend you don't!) but it's where The Office was based. Ricky Gervais, a comedy genius or an awkward watch depending who you ask (Dave or me!), was one of the brains behind the cult show filmed as a spoof docu-series about office workers and their wind up relationships with each other. Catch it on Netflix. Good suggestions this week!

Back it Bring

This is where we get to bring something back from the dead...I mean past! I want to bring back a classic Playstation game that was just pure fun and entertainment. If it ever comes available on the PS store, make sure you buy and download Destruction Derby, hours and hours of wrecking cars! Dave would love to bring back an icon of aviation which sadly was ended after a couple of serious crashes. Concorde ruled the skies literally in terms of speed and noise in the commercial airline business. A pinnacle moment and one we may never seen again.

Win at Life

From high end to low end, if you're looking for a cheap beer, Dave has an a suggestion for you. Costing you 99p which is probably cheaper than a Mars Bar these days, Lidl sells probably the cheapest beer you'll find without it being bootlegged! I showed my slowness in keeping up to date with tech hacks by suggesting flicking the mic icon on Whatsapp when sending a voice note will change your life. Thank you to Kirsty my former colleague for putting me in the right direction!

Instant Replay

I shared a sporting moment I was privileged to be at. Chelsea v Barcelona Champions League Semi-Final 2009. A controversial game with 2 sublime goals, I just felt lucky seeing Messi play in the flesh. Dave reverted to type and went back to that glorious day when England won the Rugby World Cup in 2003 in Australia's backyard thanks to the boot of Jonny Wilkinson. England have come very close in the past few World Cups in emulating that legendary team but it might be a once in a generation thing.

You Said, She Said, He Said, They Said, We Said

Still have not come up with a better name for quote of the week but we both still inspired. My contribution this week was from Anne Frank who apparently said 'whoever is happy will make others happy too'. This went very well with another one of Dave's short stories which is all about taking the first step however big or small that might be.

What's Your Price?

New topic for this week and Dave stitched me up by playing on my fear of free falling. I am ok with heights but it's the out of control experience I don't like of falling. I held out for big money whereas Dave was more difficult to bring down in price knowing that he had to get home from London naked. Listen to the episode for the hypothetical costs!

Would You Rather?

My turn this week and I've gone down the superhero route. Big films from both of these comic franchises but which team would you rather be on - The Avengers or Justice League? Don't just base your answer on the films, think about the villains, how the team get on, the outfits, weapons etc. There is a lot more to it than beating Thanos or playing cat and mouse with the Joker. So let us know on our social media channels! See you all next week! Peace out!
