Welcome to the Waffle Cafe Pod blog! It is here where you will find extra waffle and info to back up what Dave and myself discussed and dissected in each episode. Remember to spread the word of the cafe if you've liked what you've heard. On that note, because we are aware they can be long waffles, we have now added timestamps for the topics so you can skip to your preferred topics or just move on because you've had enough of my voice! So what was episode #1 all about?...

Good Vibe of the Week

What were the chances that we both had the same good news story?! We both discussed the lovely story of Gabriel who is somewhat of a woodwork specialist. Oh and he's 12yrs old! He wanted to raise money to buy a new bike through making some custom wood pieces but his social media request (via his Dad) got so much traction, he ended up with over 20,000 requests! So instead of slaving away in his woodwork shop, he auctioned off a one off bowl in support of Ukraine! I did have the back up story of fellow 12yr old Max Woosey who is still camping outside in his garden and has been for the past 2 years! With kids like this, there's definitely hope in the world. Well done lads!

Gripe of the Week

We both had a right moan for our first outing! I have realised how much time we all spend on charging basically everything in our home! That's all we do! I have had someone (no names!) advice telling me to charge things at night. Ok, that's great but some of my tech have really bad batteries so what am I supposed to do then huh Ali?! Oops! Dave has been aggrieved by people on social media asking silly stuff like what time does the post office open?! I feel you Dave, what happened to actually calling the place?!! Dave also mentioned one of his neighbours has the heating on in the middle of the Summer! Either they've got poor blood circulation or they're growing a certain plant for leisurely consumption!

Tuneage of the Week

Each episode we will both share some tuneage we are into and you can listen to it on via our Spotify playlist updated each week after each new pod! Our recommendations here couldn't be more different. Dave went down to grime/Brit hip hop route with Skepta ft. JME 'That's not me' from 2014. I've added it to my playlist on Spotify and it has grown on me although some of the lyrics don't make sense. He used to wear Gucci but he threw it in the bin because that's not me?! You mad man?! My tuneage comes in an album format with White Lies most recent offering 'As I try not to fall apart'. A band who sounds as good live as they do in the studio, a very under rated band in my opinion. If you like a bit of 80s' inspired synth/indie, White Lies is for you.

Footage of the Week

With so many streaming platforms to choose from these days (does anyone play DVDs anymore?!), choices are endless and we both usually spend Saturday evenings just flicking through all the options and then arguing with our wives what to watch! I went old school sci-fi horror with Alien from 1979. I watched the whole film series a couple of weeks ago and the original was freaky as an alien exploding out of your chest! Dave opted for a box set and a very very good one in that! Breaking Bad. A science teacher suffering from terminal cancer turns into a meth producer with a local junkie results in some crazy story telling and big characters! It can be slow in places but you have to stick with it because it hits 100mph towards the final series.

Back It Bring

This is where we get to bring something back to the future. I should of said Delorean after writing that sentence but I chose a cartoon favourite of mine: Thundercats. I loved that show and even had the lair. Turned out Dave had the sword! If they every made proper movie, I'd be the first in the queue dressed up as Lion-O! Dave sounded very cut up about his blast from the past. He wants to bring back the v10 era in F1. Unfortunately, this will be unlikely to happen due to rules and registrations currently imposed in F1 but the noise from those engines were iconic.

Win At Life

Our very own life hacks, tips or just generic recommendations to make your life a little more easier! Dave went down the food route and has suggested everyone make their way to their nearest Miller and Carter steak house and get them a prime cut! I actually suggested something that doesn't cost a remortgage and a simple one I bet not many of us to do is to filling up our shampoo/shower gel bottles when you think you've run out. What you're left with is a good few more washes, getting value for money and reducing wastage.

Instant Replay

We are both big sporting nuts and this is where get to relive some brilliant and epic sporting moments. Because I still feel quite annoyed at the farce of last season's F1 and a lot of critics saying how dramatic it was, I want people to remember Lewis Hamilton's first championship win. It was won on the last corner with Felipe Massa already celebrating thinking he had it in the bag - that's drama! Dave's was Usain Bolts world records from the 2009 World Championships in Berlin. Will we ever see times like his again?...

You Said, She Said, He Said, They Said, We Said

Big lover of quotes and inspirational messages here at the Waffle Cafe Pod. I went with an interpretation of a Buddha teachings with the message of basically don't waste time, grab the opportunity and live life. Dave a told a story. No, he really did but with a wise message about not knowing the consequences of an action unless you commit and go through with it. Only then will you learn if the said action was positive or negative. You should become a monk Dave!

Mortal Kombat

Loved this game, not so much the films though, why can't they ever get it right?! We pitted 2 warriors of the animal kingdom against each other in a Top Trumps style game - the Hamster v the Gerbil. It is the fight everyone wants to know the answer to and we weren't closer to knowing! Dave went down the sci-fi route which did result in more meaningful discussion! Wolverine v the T-1000. Both made from metal but in slightly different forms. I suggested the T-1000 going for the organs but we all know how Arnie got rid of the terminator don't we?! Floor is lava!

Would You Rather?

Dave kicked it off this week with a very though provoking choice. Would you rather have telekinesis or telepathy? Imagine what you could do with either. Know what people are thinking or making things move. Both have their benefits in different situations but we want to know what you think so vote in our Twitter poll and leave us a comment...

Well, we hope you have enjoyed the first Waffle Cafe Pod outing and do return next week Episode #2 where we will be discussing some fresh waffling content!

Peace!
